Lumlu Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") is part of the Terms of Service and applies to everything you do with Lumlu, and especially to content you share with others. Our goal is a safe, lawful study tool.
Prohibited Content
Do not import, generate, share, or distribute content that:
- is illegal, or facilitates illegal activity;
- sexually exploits or endangers minors, in any form (we report such material to the appropriate authorities and permanently ban the account);
- infringes anyone's copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other rights, including sharing documents you do not have the right to share;
- is harassing, hateful, threatening, or incites violence or self-harm;
- depicts graphic violence or is otherwise obscene without legitimate educational purpose;
- discloses someone else's private or personal information without consent;
- contains malware, or attempts to compromise security or privacy.
Prohibited Conduct
Do not:
- use the Service to spam, phish, or deceive;
- attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorized to access;
- probe, scan, overload, or disrupt the Service, or bypass rate limits, quotas, credit metering, or access controls;
- scrape or harvest content or data except as expressly permitted;
- misuse the reporting system (for example, filing knowingly false reports);
- resell or commercially exploit the Service without our permission.
Sharing Responsibly
- Public study shares are visible to anyone with the link. Treat them as public. If you list a share in the public Explore gallery, anyone can discover it without the link. Never include private, confidential, or third-party content you lack the right to publish.
- Public shares carry the study layer only — never a source document. Do not attempt to circumvent this to distribute copyrighted files.
- Only share documents privately when you have the right to do so.
Reporting
Anyone can report shared content from within the Service, or by contacting legal@lumlu.app. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team.
Enforcement
We detect violations through user reports, automated scanning of publicly shared text, and image hash-matching, with human review of automated flags. When content or conduct violates this AUP we may, at our discretion and without prior notice: remove content, revoke shares, limit features, and suspend or permanently ban the offending account and all devices linked to it. Severe violations (such as child sexual abuse material) result in an immediate permanent ban and may be reported to law enforcement.
Appeals
If you believe we acted in error, contact legal@lumlu.app. We will review good-faith appeals, though we are not obligated to reinstate any account or content.
